In my long and varied career I have been fortunate to work as an English teacher, art consultant, realtor, camp director, tour guide, corporate travel executive, proposal writer and web designer. In my spare time I am an artist, and sculptor. However, my favorite job has been mother to my three kids. As my kids got older and branched out on their own, my mother job required less and less time and I was able to devote more and more time to all of my other interests.
I recently retired from my paid jobs and soon after, I became a grandmother for the first time. I am fortunate to live within driving distance of my grandson and now spend two days a week with him. I am fascinated by the differences I see in him from one week to the next and thoroughly enjoy the one on one time with him.
When I look back on my career, I realize that a lot of my job responsibilities lend themselves to being a grandmother that can offer more than hugs and kisses to her grandchildren. My jobs have required me to spend time researching information, writing extensively, managing adults and children, and thinking creatively. I have been able to put my skills to good use in helping my kids research everything from best wipes for baby to sleep training to baby games and activities to stimulate development.
As more and more of my friends become grandmothers, I have been asked for advice. This website is intended to share information I found really helpful and to detail the incredible experience of being a grandmother.
